VW CRAFTER EDC 16CP34 BDM read problem 0 281 014 131

Postby mocPL » Tue May 05, 2015 4:29 pm

Does anybody had like me a problem with EDC16CP34 after few flashing procedures? I have flashed the unit few times and then the ECU died. No contact, no response, just nothing. By the way, how to raise the EDC16CP34 ECU after situation like that?

Sems your CPU died. This ECU is little different from most others.
Most of ECUs for start needs 0.3AMPs - (when you click connect on your programmer, ecu needs more energy for startup),
But this ECU takes more than 2AMPs for very little period of time, and when it startup it than running at 0.25AMPs.

2AMPs is a lot. And sometimes happens that CPU dies if you do it in very short period of time - more flashing in short time, or sometimes it just dies. To repair it you need to replace CPU which is pretty difficult - and you also need special tool to remove it...

For removing you need to heat it up in exact time slowly up to needed temp,
and also cooling must take exact time by dropping temperature in steps - proper steps.
So you need very good expert to replace CPU - and you also need new same CPU. As you have full BDM read that would be not a problem.

Easyer way is to find same ecu and write all content from backup to it and it will be perfect clone.

hope it helps...

Appreciate that post mate. You see, i have worked with EDC16 ecus nearly hundred times before and never had baked up a VAG ECU on the table!!! It just happened for the first time. I knew that there must been something special to this CRAFTER controller. Now i`m having a new, cloned one and works obviously fine.
Im sure there is more of these amperage-sensitive ECUs. Have you experienced or heard about any other of them?
Any solution to prevent that problem at all?
