That's is true, there are thousands of map packs. WinOLS is a powerful tool. For all persons that are new to chiptuning, please visit EVC website and download the demo version and the manual, start from the beginning with a simple file and read a lot on the web. You'll not learn all in one week, be prepared you'll spend a lot of time reading. Believe me this is not easy.

Hi Guys

I worked before with Alientech sofware, still working on it.

But have to say, it is easy to use, but...do not have many information needed for good tuning, yes you can do your job done, but not the way I would like to do it.

Another part of the "job" is to understand why you must do map changes. And it is quite complicated to start alone, even so, with guys that already work on tuning, there is a lack of "real" knowledge.

Many tuners works on try and error technic....and I do not want this type of procedure anymore.

I am thinking seriously into WinOLS software, but prices scare me while the learning curve seems to be very demand full.

Guys that really use WinOLS day by day can help me in some questions?

1- How to work on checkum?
There are packs? Individual checksum corrections per family?

2-There is no "drivers" like Alientech Titanium software, so I will need to setup my own "drivers"?

3-Saw that are companies that sell the mappack, but it adds many costs to the product, without than it is possible to make good tuning?

4-After all these "silly" question, thinking that you already work on WinOLS, what are the basic to start with?
1 License off couse, but what other packs included?

Thank you guys

Regards

Luciano

I'm in the same boat as you!

I'm learning on Titanium with a paid version. I'm getting stuck on some 32 bit floating maps that have no drivers for. I don't find it easy to search on Titanium, I used the WinOLS demo and found what I was looking for but being I didn't have the driver maker for Titanium I couldn't adjust what I wanted. ..Which is why I'm now looking into WinOLS.

I tried like most ppl say..get the demo and test it out, but the demo doesn't have any damos files, the ones you find cracked online are all in German descriptions..so that doesn't help me much. I tried using KPtranslator but it doesn't seem to work with the newer WinOLS versions.

Thinking I might just take the bullet and buy the WinOLS full version with the translator option. Either way, if I want to make this a trade, feel I'm going to require both Titanium and WinOLS to start with and just keep adapting as technology advances.

What I have found out to answer one of your questions, WinOLS has credits you pay, for even on full version, to correct the checksum, their quite costly. Titanium does this automatically, but on some newer PCM's like some ME17's, Titanium does not correct them for you(a msg will be displaying stating it will not be corrected)..Some ME17's aren't programmed via ODB2 and require Ktag or similar. With Alientech, now the KessV2/KTag/Powergate do the checksum correction for you. Being I already have a legit master KessV2(not sure if clones do it), I'm going to buy the full version WinOLS without any credit for checksum. Then just flash the PCM with either the Kess to correct the checksum that WinOLS didn't do..just I think the Ksuite requires the file that's in the car to be loaded along with the mod file to do so. Last car I flashed asked for the original file to compare..guess it was to correct the checksum
