i managed to recover once with kwp2000.
but i don't know if it will always work.

From my experience... Boot mode will ALWAYS work, unless something about your ECU is damaged.

There's no good reason for boot mode not to work, being a hardware feature of the processor. You just have to get it right.

if mpps orfgtech wrong on writing processing via obd, it possible rebuild the file by boot mode?
or it need only dessolder the chip?

Bootmode is a design feature of the processor, as described above.

If you use a tool that can use this feature to write the ecu, then you will be able to write to the ecu in any state, providing it is electronically and physically intact.

Most tools only cover flash, rather than eeprom, but this is often enough.

With quality tools, one will never ever, ever, ever, EVER have to take a soldering iron to the flash on an EDC15P ecu, even with a million failed flashes. (a handful would be unlikely)

It's an old thread, but I have a quick question and don't want to open another one. So in case of a bmw dde4, where mpps reads only a part of ecu, will mpps while in boot mode still write back only that smaller part of map, or it would be able to write back the whole map, if the one was previously recorded with another tool, if someone can answer? tnx

In boot mode you must write full flash. On OBD you write just what you read.

Mpps is best to recover these ecu's. Here is a how too guide though on how to do it. Instead of soldering to pin 24 though just use a probe with a 5k resister in the wiring. You may have to attempt this a couple of times but it does work 100%. I have done this a couple of times myself.

Sometimes even boot mode with MPPS will not do anything and you have to use an external programmer and put it back to EDC :?

guys that depends of ecu code: for example with 038906019AM no obd and no boot mode works, only desolder

that explain because some could read and some not in boot mode using same method.
