Postby damo3453 » Fri Jan 29, 2016 1:54 pm

Hello im 22 years old and have been learning about remapping and file writing ect. So i got my self a slave to a well knowen company in the uk (where i live) to start learning and use as abit of a hobby. Now i realy want to learn about file writing i have followed vagecumap of youtube and was a grate help. I set out to open my own business with a well known mechanic in my home town so hopefully i should get some income coming in from all the money i have spent.i was just wondering if there is some 1 out there thats willing to help me out abit. Thanks in advance

I think I might have given you advice on a similar subject before, but essentially my advice would be to take things slow.

If you have a slave device, use that to earn some funds for some decent pro kit, it doesn't have to be the most expensive pro-kit, but there's only three things to tuning, knowledge, experience and equipment. Regardless of knowledge it's a given really that the equipment will bail you out at least on some occasions in the course of time.

It's hard to be helpful without a specific problem, it's a difficult industry but if you intend to make genuine performance software and be one of the good players in the biz then the best of luck to you. I firmly believe if you put a lot of effort into tuning for people the rewards will come, though like any small business it will be a slow process.

Once you have the kit, subscriptions aside you have a business 'for life' even if you decide not to use the kit, or get tied up with doing something else, so it's not all doom and gloom even if things are slow on the uptake.

Yes mate i think you have gave me some advice on this subject. I understand that i need a problem to come up before anyone can help. I was hoping to get a few peoples contact info like facebook names. So when i do have problems or struggle to do something thay can try help over a txt or can team view my laptop and show me were ive gone wrong . I didnt want to pay out for genuine masters to find out i could not write a map if that makes sence lol. I have followed vagecumap on youtube and have learned alot there just so much i havent learnt. Thanks :)

I know what you mean, do you have any cars of your own to work on before making the jump?

When I started out a few years ago I started with chipping an msa11 unit from a rover 420sdi. Looking back now it was probably the best way in, you just need the software and a chip programmer.

Not as cheap to get involved now (unless you do have an ecu you can socket) but a good way to build up some valuable experience?
