Help with EDC16 BEW TDI 100HP North American Car Tune

Postby christiandoy » Mon Apr 04, 2016 5:10 am

Hi everyone,

I have recently gotten into the tuning game. Trying to learn more about how to tune the PD 1.9 TDI engines from the north american Jetta and Golfs. I will post the tune file of the ecu that I have downloaded the bin from. I am using WINOLS but having a difficult time knowing where to start.

I understand that I need to adjust the following:

Driver's wish maps however I am having a hard time finding these.

Torque Limiter (I have found this address- but it would be helpful if someone can confirm)

Smoke Map (I have found this address- but it would be helpful if someone can confirm)

Boost Maps and Boost Limiters (Please confirm addresses)

EGR map- please confirm how to locate and turn off EGR.

And the SVBL - I am having an even more difficult time finding this map.

I am new to the game so please be gentle. I have done a fair bit of research and searching however it all seems so overwhelming and difficult to interpret as there are so many different software numbers.

My biggest difficulty after finding a map I am having trouble selecting the map manually and opening it. Is there a tutorial someone could run me through quickly to do this? I really dislike Winols, i understand it is a good system but it is just very confusing.

Please someone take me under your wing and help me out, it would be so very much appreciated. I am looking forward to your input and support.

File attached

Sincerely,

Christian

Hi thanks for the reply. After a bunch of video watching from the above link I have narrowed down how to manually select maps. I am thinking I have found the start of some driver's wish maps but am having a hard time identifying them and applying an x and y axis data to them. it looks as if there is a huge spike where there shouldnt be repeatedly in this. I am attaching a pic of my dilemma.

Can you send me a screen shot of how it is properly selected in text mode and 2d mode in winols? Just to give me a basis of understanding. I know it is 8x16 but when I go to select it winols will not allow me to add the map

Ok... I think I am closer to finally defining the first Driver's wish map. I have successfully selected and mapped an 8x16 map which you helped me identify. Here is the latest screen shot of what I have found. I don't think it is entirely correct as there are negative numbers i.e -2? Check the screen shot and let me know how you think I can get this perfect please. I have found the x and y axis data and have applied the offsets correctly for this map.

Your continued support is much appreciated.

Ok I have been busy. I seem to have found another set of 7 Driver Wish maps in the first Codeblock in the ORI file that I have attached.

I have spent all day on finding the maps, identifying the axes of X and Y and making sense of all the numbers as far as what is expressed in mg/stroke, nm, % etc... I hope this helps people like me who came into the tuning game being blindsided and overwhelmed by it all. Slowly I am starting to understand how to identify maps quicker and quicker. The youtube videos that are further up in this post helped greatly, though it is much like sitting through a lecture in school haha!

Anyways I am still in search of the SOI maps I understand they are 14x9 if I am not mistaken and there are quite a few of them depending on the temperature. With that being said I imagine there is a selector for duration and SOI that i need to find as well.

So in sum if someone can please help me with the following:

Locate SOI maps
Locate selector for duration and SOI maps
Identify if I have acquired all the necessary maps or if I am missing a duplicate of one? i.e is there more than one n75 map in this file?
I have located the EGR maps, if someone can be so kind as to tell me how to manipulate them to disable EGR that would be amazing.

I'm sure I will gain some of these answers in the next little while but I would appreciate any of your input!

Attached is a picture of what I have found so far. If you can tell me if I have made any mistakes or need to add any additional duplicates of the below maps, or if I have left out a map that really should be here please let me know!!!!

Thanks again guys!

Sincerely,

Christian

Maki4ever, I am looking at the SOI maps that you have found however I can't find the definition axis for the x and y before the SOI 0. Is there a specific location for this?>
