Remmaped file copy

Postby tazza_no1 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 2:01 am

Hi all,
I am very new to this remapping and I have few questions.
Can you back up an ecu tuned ECU then write it to another ecu of the same type?
Does the file you backup not contain details like serial numbers and chasis number etc specific to the car?
The maps the people upload for others, can they be written as is to an ECU or do yo uhave to modify it first?

Thanks
Tazza

Do not do that. Always modify original.

Why are they seliing generic files - because the purchaser does not know the difference

Are they messing up cars - yes exactly that.

very carefull with generic modified files! if you try to put one the car will lock, because of the immo... and you may destroy the engine.
always modified a file from the original.

It all depends on the ECU really, but if you generally want an easy life, modify original read from the car!

If you like a hard life, then don't.

Do not buy files, you have to send your file to be edited, not to use another file...
even same sw and same hw file has some different bits...

Remap has to be done out of your original bin file.
