Tuning guide for dummies

Postby VAG'd » Wed Jun 29, 2016 9:23 pm

Hi Ladies and Gents

I'm very new to the tuning industry but i have always been a fan of tuning and slowly but steadily been teaching myself how to tune.

I actually want to keep it short and sweet so that i dont bore you guys. I would appreciate some inputs and the tricks and the trades you use to make your tuning life better and easier.

My experience and skills so far:
-Can download the files from the car (easiest)
-Can identify maps and make map packs with Winols in EDC15 and EDC16 VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat TDIs (Probably the easiest cars)
-Have been able to translate German Damos to English.
-Been able to do the calculations to tune correctly (TDIs only)

Now what i would like to know:
-If I'm correct Damos is like a super mappack? How would i go from Damos into creating the necessary map packs which i then can use for tuning? even though i can translate everything (which takes forever) i still do not understand the descriptions clearly and then i dont know whether i should create a map pack.
-I would like start tuning turbo petrol cars as well, but must first learn the basics.
-need to find a quicker way to create map packs.

It will be very cool if you guys can share some tricks and trades.
Lets keep it basic for now so that me  the dummy would understand.

where in sa are you from mate? the best answer i can give you is to learn how to recognize maps, most of the factors is on the forums. the way that i started is i downloaded all the maps i could find of a specific ecu tipe, and i would spend alot of time trying to identify maps
