EGR off faillure?

Postby rapallie » Mon Jul 11, 2016 7:52 pm

I've performed the EGR off on my car but when I go out for a test drive and log the position of the EGR valve with VCDS, it sometimes briefly opens.

I've found a strange value after the last 20x1 hysteresis: i.e. 32767 (1C9DE0)

Should this value be changed to 0000 as well?

hey
32767 this not map part. maybe this is not reason but you zeroed 21 values in second hysteresis map ,first number which you zeroed it is engine speed axis. i cant open your rar file to look better to your file,

Thanks for the quick replies!

I have indeed followed the procedure in the pdf file, but the value 32767 is not in there and it wants you to zero the 04200 which could indeed be the engine speed.

So it could be that the procedure in the pdf is wrong ?!

I've uploaded the file again.

yes this is mistake. you need zeroed only 20 values not 21. can you send me your file on PM because still i cant download your file. i get this info "The selected attachment does not exist anymore".

I've changed the engine speed back to its original value of 04200 and did a test drive again with VCDS logging the EGR valve position. (specified, actual and duty cycle)

Nothing has changed, the EGR valve is closed most of the time but opens three times in a 10 min test drive. I start to think this is by design and that this needs to happen because you will otherwise get a permanent check engine light.

To completely close the EGR I think a hardware modification is needed as well (blanking plate)

Or will this give a check engine light?
