Golf 4 map names

Postby firecode95 » Sun May 29, 2016 12:13 am

I have been trying to edit my Golf 4 ecu for some time and it has been interesting experience for example never use old plcc32 sockets as they could fail to hold memory chip in place and on road bumps you just loose power:D but now to the part where I am stuck. So I have been searching for maps in my ecu for some days and have found some of them but for almost half of them I have no idea what they do and for what they are:D For start I had found and disabled egr(mapping out, couldn't find switch for that) but would like to tune engine power to safe limit + adjust glow plug map.
So those maps I had found in 038906018BL ecu with 0281001845 software if I have understood right:D
Boost target
Driver wish
EGR
IQ to airmass
MAF Correction by temperature
Pump voltage
Smoke limiter
Soi limiter
Start IQ
Start of injection
Torque limiter

and 19 unnamed maps:D

Also I had changed my ecu rom chips from TMS27C010A to SST39SF010A and soldered sockets as I mentioned earlier. Hope that someone could little bit explain what other maps are and hot to start with basic VCDS loging to see what I can tune.
And this winols project has been made in winols 2.24.

use vagsuite you get al the maps needed.

if interrested i have a good tune file voor 018BL tested.

It would be very useful to see how tunning has been done on this ecu but I would like to give a try myself and understood how things are going in real life + edcssuite looks graphically friendly but looks like winols is more advanced and can work with parallel maps also. And as except tunning more power I would like to adjust glow plug map too as sometimes its harder to start engine when it has been sat for just some minutes that when its completely cold. And I already used edc suite to find some of maps so there is stage where I don't know how to determinate other maps names/functions.

i don't understand why you would offer him a tuned file if he want to learn himself

Well I had found many guides what need to be tunned and basicaly what they say is add more fuel and boost to get more power but how musch, what AFR need to be at least isn't sad. And also I had found out that if more fuel is added I need to alternate fuel injection timing or its just for pd engines. Basically more I read less I understood what is right so I started to find out what maps is in my ecu.

P.S. I have a VCDS too so what would be basic parameters to log for tunning?

Hi, Search "vagecumap" on youtube. He focus primarily on EDC15 EDC16 and little bit of EDC17, He also gives good information about stoic (Air Fuel Ratio) it's a starting point for beginner tuners!

Well after two month work starting from zerro I managed to get my tune how far I wanted:D 1.9tdi from stock 90hp to ~130hp MAf, EGR disabled and converted to MAP, maybe at some futuristic level I will create 3 tune profiles with eco, stock and power profile as my ecu has 3 codeblocks and switching between I could manage with built in tablet:D
