Do HW and SW versions have to be exact?

Postby gijoe500 » Wed Mar 15, 2017 5:19 pm

Hi,
this is just my second day researching so i've still got some noobiness. Can you flash different SW versions on to the same HW version of an ecu, like an ecu update? Is the whole ecu ripped with MPPS or only parts of it?

I got interested in tuning as a result of an ESP error in my car, where the engine ecu always displays a constant value for torque (408nm) and torque required by driver, In Diagbox, for the esp, it never changes. Car runs perfect otherwise. I think the previous owner had been messing with the ecu, turning off egr, maybe using a cheap tuning elm device or something. So he may have messed something up.

I could be totally wrong of course, but if that were the case, how would I fine the messed up maps if they existed. I've looked at similar bins for my car and ecu, but they all look different. Some look quite similar but are out of sync in places. Haven't been able to fine any exact bins for my sw and hw version.

407 1.6hdi
hw 1039s09917
sw 9658945280

Any tips, ideas, advice or abuse welcome.. :-)
