Developing tuning file procedure(Help)

Postby TuningIsArt » Thu Aug 20, 2015 9:02 pm

Hi guys.I have a basic problem on tuning an engine.Let's assum that I have a petrol engine and tuned it for 20hp and 40 Nm gains(1st stage). Now I made some mods on the vehicle and it went to stage 2+.What's the procedure that I have to follow to find how far I can push the engine?Should I plug in a diagnostic tool and display some values like boost,EGT,ECT etc + the AFR gadget in the exhaust and make a full run on dyno and check the values? How can I understand that I can go further on boost control or torque limiter or on ignition? That's a huge discussion but it will be good for everyone to exchange knowledge on how we can create a fully custom tune file

Hi M8,
Maths are always the first step!!
What do you want to achive? So must calculate how much Petrol/Diesel is needed, how much time/duration, What Soi now? what presure at rail? How much air need to burn that Petrol/Diesel? ( boost). what about afr?? Need raise limiters?etc...etc...etc..
Once done the diagnostics and load first tune file, check how it respond, must do logs and analyze and correct the file.
Depends on your experience how much time will take to complete the process.
Chiptuning is not a game, takes long time to learn and remember... if someone believe he knows everything, then really needs too much to learn.
Regards.
