Tuning Alfa 156 85kw

Postby MHB2011 » Tue Jul 11, 2017 11:48 pm

Hello,

I am trying to learn about remaping my alfa 156 1.9 JTD 8v - 85 kw (2004).
So far i tryed changing Driver wish , Torque limit , Smoke limit and Iq vs temp limit map. Also i closed EGR (in map).
I changed all the maps so they give me about 70mm3 because SOI map and duration goes up to 70-75 mm3.

Today i ve got multiecuscan and did some tests. A lot of the results i dont undersand.

About software:
I connected it using KT cable usb interface. Inside the software its saying "too high latency" but i didnt found how to change it and software is working anyways. I tryed in device manage , but cant find it.

About tests:
1. http://imgur.com/FxoOuXP this is at minimum revs
As u can see desired intake air quantity is 1200 and intake air quantity is 418mg/i which i cant understand .

2. http://imgur.com/lx53s1s
-Boost drops at 2600 rpm
- Boost presure goes up to 2350 and in boost map it says 2155 max. In boost limit map max is 2350.
- 2350 boost gives me only 899 mg of air.

Car goes really good up to 2500-2600 rpm and than i can feel it is loosing power.
Am i missing something ? Thanks !

1. Did you pressed accelerator pedal? Was your car standing still or you drove it?
I think I would have same difference between desired and measured air quantity if car was standing still while pressing accelerator.
But i reach target when driving, i noticed that reaching target takes some time, as i understand we wait for turbo to spin, so it would create vacuum and sucks more air in.

In advance i can tell from my experience, that with such huge increase in fuel limiters you will create to much pressure for turbo (SVBL) and in my case that happens at near 4k rpm, turbo goes over 2.45bar(original 2.3bar) even with 10% fuel increase (not maximum possible) and ecu just stops engine (save guard).

Hey tommic,
Thanks a lot for your response .
I drove a car, it was not standing still. Anytime i try to measure desired intake air quantity is always between 1200-1450 ... Which is really confusing me because i dont need more than 1050mg of air in any situation .

Which increase in fuel is too high ? How can I make it smaller ?

I still dont understand why turbo gives me that much pressure if in my boost map i never ask for more than 2155. is it possible its because of too high increase in fuel as you said ?
And how 2350 boost gives me only 899 mg of air .

I will try to do some more tests and find out whats happening any help is appreciated

Here are my boost and boost limiting map

you dont have to change nothing in egr map leave it stock,or the car dont run wel,egr off its via switch in this ecu, more fuel with same turbo =overboost,to cure it you have to modify vnt maps properly, but first off all leave you egr map stock

Ok thanks jtdpov i will try with stock egr and i will report the results .

Ok. With EGR on original values desired intake air quantity seems fine.

There is still too much boost pressure.
Boost pressure is higher than desired boost pressure which is confusing me.
Desired boost pressure seems fine.

On 2500 rpm boost pressure goes too high and than drops as before . Nothing changed.

I still dont understand how i get only 800-900 mg of air with boost at 2300+

"I changed all the maps so they give me about 70mm3", what was original injection quantity?
How do you collected this data: http://imgur.com/lx53s1s, acceleration with throttle position 100%?
You don't reach your desired 70mm3 not even near, max recorded 62.47mm3. Which map is limiting you IQ ?, i guess, by boost limiter map?

Hey tommic,
I can get 69-70 on lower revs 1700-2200, but on higher revs boost goes too high and than drops. With boost of 2300mBar i would expect at least 1050 mg of air, but for some reason i cant get it. I guess thats the limitng factor for fuel

ehat i said you before for reduce boost spikes you have to tune vnt maps properly, with 1350mbar of boost you must see 1050-1080 mg of air, look at for air leaks between air filter to turbo or bad maf

Hi MHB,
Like JTDPOW, you might have to reduce the "N75" values towards the high IQ, may be at 60mm3 to anticipate the spike, if you have some. If you don't have any don't touch the VNT maps.

That the turbo pressure is 100 or 150 mbar above the requested pressure is not an issue, the 2 curves rarely follow each other like shadows, even with original map.

The thing you had to do is log with the following values:

RPM
Qty Fuel total
Air flow
Turbo pressure request
Turbo pressure measured
Fuel pressure gauge measured
% throttle.

Then post it and it will be easier to look at it.
Have you found all the limit maps?
Have you changed the torque limiter map?
