Help with yamaha ECU

Postby bberna8 » Sat Sep 16, 2017 7:41 pm

I have an outboard ECU I need help with. I need to do an engine hour correction on an outboard ECU. The Yamaha dealership said they cannot reprogram engine hours in the ECU and I'd need to buy a new one, at $2000.00.
I'd like to either match the old ECU's hours of 790hrs or I will erase back to zero and I'll keep the old ECU for explanation if I sell it.

I've dumped the ECU with a KTAG, but the file is fairly small at 146kb. i'm not sure if this dumped the section of the ECU I need or not.
ECU model # - 6CE-8591A-00
CPU model: Mitsubishi MH8106F (afaik)

I've tried searching through this file with multiple hex and ECU editors, but haven't been able to find the data or recognize anything that would point me in the right direction. I'm willing to pay someone with a good reputation here through paypal to either make the correction for me or (truthfully) search through the file to tell me that data was not part of the export.

I'm also willing to send off the ECU to an outfit to make this change for a reasonable price, so if anyone has any company recommendations who could tackle something like this I'd like to hear it. I'd imagine 90% of the search results I find are people who are reselling map packs with no real technical knowledge. Note - I'm not bashing because I don't have the technical expertise either, but they can't help me and may not admit so immediately.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Are you referring to the export from the Ktag (slave) or the ECU in general and what I'm trying to do is impossible? Any companies you recommend I can send the ECU to if it's the former?

"70 B8 DC 6E" is the encrypted data, it's repeated a few times on 3 lines

Agh. Got it. No way to decode that I assume, even with a different tool? If you PM me your paypal email I will send $10 for a beer helping me through this...
