I have a Seat Leon 1.9 TDI and a Galetto 1260 Programmer. I can read the EPROM contents with the Galetto and get a File with 512 kb Size.

I think next step would be to decrypt the file, then edit it with winOLS or some other tool, calculate a new checksum, crypt it again and then put it back on the ECU? The "master" button in the Galetto software let's me open source and destination file, but does not do anything (no file created).

Is there a tutorial for beginners like me somewhere on the net?

Just reanme the file you read form the ecu with a .bin or .ori extension.
Load the bin with winols.
Its hex....probably not encrypted.

i'll give that a try ;-). Can you tell me, what is contained in that file? If I flash some "trashed" file to my ECU, what will happen? Will the ECU boot up far enough that I can flash back my original file or would I have a serious problem then?

That would be a very bad idea.

Not something you want to test... at the very least the car wont start.
At worst it will lock you out i would imagine = bricked ecu

Just try reading the ecu and finding the maps in winols for now.
Lots of maps to find in that file.

However, I somehow managed to get the car work again.

Now I have one spare ECU, so I can learn how to work on the bench. :thumbup:

just use VAGEDC15P suite.
be sure and save a copy of your original bin file in case anything goes wrong.
