ECU programming

Postby Gon94 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 4:39 pm

Hello world,

I am a final year engineering student and my graduation project is ECU's. The company that I work for is a combustion engine
manufacturer. The production line contains a test bench to make sure that the engine is functioning in a proper way and my
project is within this section. For every diesel engine the test bench operator must bring the adequate ECU so that the engine can start, and for that there is a lot of ECU's and a lot of lost time. My goal is to regroup all those ECU's in only one. After some research on the internet I found something called universal ECU. But I do want to know if this ECU can support all engines? Or it's very dependent on the engine's manufacturer, and if it's the case how to adapt it. I also found that the ECU's algorithm is based on MAPs. So can diffrent engines have similar MAP's?

I would be very grateful for nay reply, any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

start by asking yourself what kind of engine would you like to drive?

I'm not driving engines, I'm testing them. And I'm testing all kinds of diesel engines.
