Speed limit (customer) VW

Postby generalemail » Tue Jan 15, 2013 12:10 pm

Hi

While I was experimenting with VCDS I added a 80mph "customer" speed limit which VCDS indicated could be removed and or altered witha pin code.

Searching on the web now indicates that this is write once/decrease only operation and a remap is my only option (although there may be some confusion between "customer" speed limit and limt "by law".

I was thinking of purchasing a basic MPPS edc16 flash tool to read and save the ECU binary.

Could anyone please confirm whether they think this tool would be suitable?

What software would be required to edit the binary file? would ecuedit editor be OK?

Is it a fairly straight forward procedure to alter the "customer" speed limit - this was added via VCDS (engine/adaptaion/channel 14)

The van is a VW trannsporter 2.5 2008 and i think has an EDC 16**** ECU.

Any attempts at humour will be recieved gracefully and any useful advice gratefully.

Cheers

When you have set it with VCDS, try this login 20973 if you have set it in AP 18, if you have set it in AP07 try this login 28575.

But on your own risk

Hi chli1976

Since you replied i have researched the information you provided and found several other detailed posts by yourself on other forums.

I see that in one post
http://www.ecuconnections.com/forum/vie ... =11&t=2839

You mention that 11971 is the login for the "Adapt channel 14, the login is 11971 (costumer HGB)"

As I definately changed the "customer speed limit" using VCDS/engine/adaptation/channel 14 would this be a good login to try?

Thank you for such a helpful and informative response.

This has now been resolved.

The customer speed limit was reset by VCDS cable using a login code in engine/codingII and is now 250 kph.

Thanks again Chli1976
