Help me save file

Postby rockymtn » Sat Mar 24, 2018 1:32 am

Hey, just here to learn and see if I am able to save/download my current ECU file from my truck. I had it tuned today and the factory tune/file was overwritten in a manner the dealership cannot detect. I am curious if anyone may be able to help me save a copy of the file that is currently loaded in my truck to a USB thumb drive. I'd also like to see if I can obtain the stock file that was overwritten. Please let me know if you think you can help. I am also very familiar with flashing hardware such as computers, set-top boxes and other things, I've just never messed with flashing an auto ECU. Thanks in advance.

Anyone? I'd sure like to have the ability to remove and re-apply this tune at my discretion because the person who did the tune lives 800 miles away. Thanks in advance.

My apologies, it's a 2017 Toyota Tundra SR5 with the 5.7L V8. I'd like to find a way to obtain the factory flash in case I ever need to revert back to stock. The current tune has removed the speed limiter and torque management among other tweaks. I'd like to download a copy from the truck, and save it to USB and find the factory file and save it as well so I can switch between the 2 files. I also would need a little advice as to what hardware and software would be needed. I do have a j2534 2.0 firmware cable and Toyota Techstream if needed. Thanks a bunch.

Is that enough information or am I asking too much? Not even sure where to start, but I figured I should be able to backup the tune that was installed over my factory file, and find the factory file somewhere online, yes?
