EGR Off A6 3.0 TDi

Postby zit501 » Mon Jun 04, 2018 1:48 pm

Hi everyone,

I'd like to understand the best method to turn off the EGR in my case. The car is a 2006 Audi A6 3.0 TDi with a BMK engine. It gets a code for EGR insufficient flow, but otherwise no other codes. The EGR system is tired and I thought it would be a nice project to turn it off.

I've looked into various discussions about turning if off on this ECU, a EDC16CP34 I believe. There seems to be a few different ways, but most people are talking about:
1) Editing two of the hysteresis maps to be all 0's
2) Finding the EGR "switch" in the hex code (this looks like one then has to unplug the EGR electronics)
3) Editing the EGR maps to be flat at 850, or whatever value is 0 duty cycle. (I haven't seen anyone use this on my EDC16)

In my case where the EGR system is still electronically functional, but just throwing low flow. What is the best method to disable? Would I be able to disable it without disabling fault codes and unplugging the EGR valve solenoids?
I essentially want to turn it down to 0%.

Thanks for your knowledge!

Hello,

Just zero the hysteresis maps and leave the EGR connected.

Thanks Axi, I'll have a look to find them in the code!
