Which tools do I purchase???

What can you recommend to first tool to reading on desk?
For example for mondeo mk3 2.0 TDCI with Visteon (EEC-V) - my experimental car :)
I think for education tll866 will be ok??

If the ecu has BDM pins then read with a BDM100
