PD130 - Maximum Level Acceptable Boost Creep at High RPM?

Postby davemcm » Fri Jun 22, 2018 7:29 pm

Hi,

I've recently spent a few weeks reading every bit of tuning info I can find for EDC15 to have a go at tuning my Passat PD130 (AVF).

After doing a few logs I have tweaked the N75 to get nice steady actual boost with no spikes in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.

In 4th and 5th (4th not too bad, 5th is the worst, haven't tried 6th) it's pretty much the same until roughly 3500-4000 where actual boost slowly starts to climb above requested boost

I have attached a screenshot log from 5th gear testing the other night, I stopped early because I saw actual rise so high I decided not to rev out to past 4000.

I have since lowered the requested boost and recduced fuelling after 3500 as sometimes its about 960mbar atmospheric here and I don't want to blow a turbo, but I'd rather not reduce the fuelling so early.

Any suggestions or ideas if that amount of boost creep is acceptable?

I already have, I think thats why it actually underboosts a bit slightly about that RPM.

It looks like stuck variable geometry (log N75, if it request max discharge at high rpm but boost rise then it is) , incorrect ecu tune or vnt rod position to the limit.

iq quanty??? the tdi 130 turbo is small,if you put too much fuel the geometry cant evacuate too much exhaust gas and boost creep its the result, what is your iq quanty?

This was it, I've reverted back to my old tune with the IQ tapering off from 3500 which seems to have solved it, in my last one I'm sure I was trying to hold 70mg out till 4000rpm then drop.
