First comes the ECU model. With that you can decide which tools you'll need, and which progrms.

If you are lucky you have a Bosch EDC15C2 ECU, that will make you able to use a Galletto 1260 (cheap on ebay) to read/write your map from/to your ECU.

First you have to read the original map and make several copies of it. Then you can start remapping it with suitable programs, the choice here seems to fall preferably on WinOLS, a non-free program sadly. Of course you may be able to find it on the net via .torrent files, but that'd be illegal.

Enough for now I think!

Good for you!
That Galletto is OK, but it will take a while (10 days at least) to arrive since it's from HK. If you prefer to have it faster you can buy it from the UK, it's basically the same piece of kit TBH.

You need whatever version of WinOLS I think, the newer the better, but better keep in the stable tree (do not get alphas and betas).

You may also want a diagnostic kit. The best for Peugeots and Citroens is PP2000. This interface, in combination with PeugeotPlanet2000 software gets everything out of your car.
You cand see what your ECU is sensing through all the sensors and what it's doing.
It's about 100€ if bought from UE, ~ 70€ from HK
