I've been able to load both into WinOLS and get the changes show up on the maps I have found.

Obviously checksums etc. won't be right so can't write file to car but I can still see most of the changes in the maps for learning purposes, no?

Thanks again for all your help. Apologies for being a a noob and asking silly questions.

The original file you posted is a 120ps file and your mod is a 150ps, they won't work together

Which one is the 120 file? I posted 3 'originals' (none of them being original lol).

Even if I compare my OBD read with the BDM original in WinOLS I can see the changes in maps.

Thanks

If you mix OBD and BDM winols will get confused and you'll not get any real maps to show properly,
it'll look like you have but they'll be messed up.
You need to find an original, there are BDM reads all over the net so best buy a BDM100

Sorry, but I don't agree.

Even if I don't use them as versions in WinOLS and just open them each individually the maps are still at the same addresses, so they show properly, and show the expected values.

I can't see why WinOLS would get confused with identical addresses in an identically sized binary file.

I may be new to this ecu tuning, but it's just a binary file, and those I am not new to.

Seriously mate you're wrong, yes the map will be there but no data for that map will be, it's all "FF" etc.. in the OBD
A map isn't just one section of hex, it has axis etc. and this can be anywhere in the dump.
Don't take my word for it, swap maps etc then put it in your car but don't come crying back when it all goes wrong..

As I said before, not my car, and I've already told the guy I am not able to do anything with it. I am not going to brick a car (especially not my own) to try and make a point lol. I am just trying to understand why.

Do you have any idea why every file (Opel/Vauxhall 1.9 cdti) I open in WinOLS with a mappack I made from addresses found on here shows the expected maps, axis, and values?

I see all the FF's at the beginning of the OBD hex, but the (tuning) maps don't start till long after those in the EDC16c39 files?

So from your experience addresses or sizes of maps and/or axis are different between BDM and ODB read files? I suppose they would have to be for WinOLS to get confused.

Really not trying to make an enemy here, just trying to learn!

Most MapPacks for this car are for BDM as not all data from the ecu is retrieved via OBD.
When you see all "FF"'s etc it is because it's missing! OBD doesn't read everything.
If you have an OBD MapPack it will be different and only contain minimal map data.
But even with all this you still need an Original.... you'll learn nothing until you get this.
