Peugeot 406 RHZ 110 LE rattle problem remap okay?

Postby user202 » Thu Nov 01, 2018 12:59 am

Hi Guys,

My proper introdution is find in the Introduce myself topic. :)
Few words from myself.
I'm new in ECU tuning I started to learn from March '18
I try my wings with my and friends Peugeot cars. EDC15C2 (307 RHS; 306 RHY, 406 RHZ)

I would like ask for some help.
One of my best friend’s car which I would like to tune properly is a Peugeot 406 RHZ 110 LE (2004) Manual 5. (372 000 km)
The car with this setup is starting to rattle from about 2000 rpm to 3000rpm at full throttle. Under and above no rattling.
Medium throttle is lighter but I can hear that.

The basic things what I would like to do:
- to make 1,415 Bar boost pressure to not hit the 1,5 bar map sensor measuring tolerance.
- Calculating the MAF regarding boost pressure the maximal MAF = 499,5 ccm*2,415=1206 mg/str. in paper of course.
- Try to guess a not much smoky AFR:
17,7 – 17,8 --> ~1210/17,7=68,36 mg convert to mm3 is divided by 0,836 = 81,77 mm3 at peak MAF.
- As for the Lexia PP2000 Measurement that boost in real is 2425 mbar and MAF= 1250 or rarely over 1280-1300.
- So I tried to adding more fuel, like 85 mm3 (2000-2750 rpm) but the rattle still come out from the engine.
- The car has a black smoke from 1700-4200rpm. Not a very thick black smoke but it can produce some visible.

What do you advise?
Do you have any guess what can be the problem?

Are the file created by me is okay?
If no, where I made mistakes and I would like to learn about it.

(Durations; SOI; Rail maps are original)

The original file made by try to copy back the orignal maps from another 110HP HDI ori file.
(Previously another tuner makes some changes and doesn’t have the original .bin file)

Okay so finally I checked again the file and start from the beginning.
I copied the maps into excel and start to calculating the proper way not to adjust by %.

So finally when I try to see the Rail pressure maps(#6 and #7 blocks) in ECM T (just use for quick look), I realise that one of out rail map in the middle section is lower than the 1st block. Just need to push the page down and page up quickly and your eyes will see the different :D
So I adjust both for the higher values. (max 1350 is still the same)

I made a more thought boost map and adjust it for lower AFR value to avoid the rattle. :)
The pressure is 2400 mbar but in real during the log (lexia) shows 2498mbar through the rev range from 2200-4000 rpm and drops to 2200mbar at 4200rpm. So I think it almost over the standard MAP sensor measuring gate (2500mbar) but the ecu don't give any fault code.

The new calculated smoke map based on 17 - 17,5 AFR I like and I calculated back to mm3.

I adjust the torque limiter to 84 mm3 and in the test it did't have visible smoke.

During the log my laptop's battery says I'm tired so I go to sleep.. :/
So I didn't able to check whether the engine get all of the fuel what I would like to inject.
I think not because the car seem to pull well from 2000-3000 rpm and from 3100 rpm the cars doesn't feels powerful, it seems that do not have power to get 4000rpm.

So anyone have an idea what I need to do to reach that it could pull better from 3000 Rpm?

Thank you
If'll have any other update regarding this project I will share.
Hope someone read it and helps me with some comment ;)

Hi there,

I know you from my messages i do have the same setup as you have on 1470 boost and using 80mm3 of fuel same problem with the tick black smoke. Try raising the fuel rail pressue so that the injection time will be shortened because you will have a bigger pressure and the map will inject faster, as bigger the fuel requeste stock rail pressure will keep the injectors opened for a longer time i will try to raise mine and I will type you back with a result

I solve this kind of problem to retune the ecu from the begining and set the request values more gently
And use some rail pressure modding to 1420 bar also help. It is quite quick with 80-83 mm3 with adjust 2380 mbar boost. :)

2,25 bar boost enough for smokeless 80mm3

As It should calculte 2250mbar/2/(80*0,84)=16,7 :1 Afr it should smoke a very little I guess 2300mbar could be better or am I think wrong?
Thanks for comment ;)
