Problem connecting MPPS to Alfa 159 2.4 JTDm (210HP)

Postby zibel32 » Thu Dec 20, 2018 4:09 pm

Hi to all members!

I hope someone can help me with my problem connecting Alfa 159 2.4 JTDm (210HP) with MPPS programmer. The car is still stock without any modifications. Here we go...

As soon as I connect MPPS to OBD port, I can't turn the ignition on and dashboard lights doesn't light up. It doesn't work either by inserting key into slot, neither by pressing START/STOP button. Red led key slot backlight also vanish at that point. Also, after that airbag failure light is always on. When I remove MPPS from OBD port, everything works fine (ignition and dashboard lights), except for airbag failure light (possibly needs airbag error reset with diagnostic equipment).

I was able to read my ECU following this procedure (but wouldn't dare to write this way)... Ignition ON and then connect MPPS gives message "Vehicle protection system not available", but MPPS successfully reads ECU ID and whole map.

Where is the problem with this? Is it normal behaviour with MPPS, but needs to pull out some fuse(s) before connecting? Is it possible that MPPS blocks immobilizer? Or, MPPS is faulty?

Thank you!
