a good tested 11mm/.234 nozzle pump voltage map

Postby robnitro » Tue Sep 17, 2013 2:56 pm

Recently changed my pump voltage map and timing map, based off of the T4 AXG 150hp 5 cyl with .216 inj and 11mm pump.
First calcs came really close to observed maf/fueling, slight smoke at 16.5:1 as I like it .

Timing is untouched, just added 5k rpm/adjusted my axis to match t4, and adjusted the fueling axis to match the 80mg limit (mathematically scaled the same way as the pump map.) Odd that the T4 is the only timing map that I saw that DOESN'T do ADTC.

Pump map was extended voltage wise, the stock map maxed out at 4.2 v for 50mg/s on .216. Changed my rpm axis to match the T4 pump map.

A little more info on how I calculated this is on ecuconnections:
I took the axg t4 map... its 150 hp, with .216 mm nozzles but 5 cyl, that's 120 hp for 4 cyl

The 216 axg uses is actually called "b209".. smaller holes but they flowed more than the older style from way back. So I used 209 for the measurement.
The 234 is much bigger, and going by hole area they are (234/209)squared bigger = 1.25x bigger area.

So for values in mid range and up I scaled up the top axis... like midrange got 1.10x boost, higher got 1.20 x and top values 1.26x. (
So higher for example, 45 became 57. Same voltage for that.

Then I had to get the pump voltage higher to get 80mg/s. 62.5Figured since the max of the axg was 4200 mv for 55 mg/s - which would be 55 *1.25= 68.75 mg/s max at 4200 mv. For 80, need est 80/68.75= 1.163x more voltage on pump. So I made the last column 80 with 1.163 x 4200, which is around 4890 or so.

The ones in between 57 and 80, I scaled evenly...

Then, in smoke map, I tested proper afr. My max maf is around 1275 or so (1.65 bar boost), so I did afr 17... 1275/17 = 75 mg/s and it gave a slight haze of smoke, which means correct afr for 3000 rpm. You need to unlock your smoke map to use higher values than 1275 btw!

Higher rpm, needs higher afr as I have read... it goes up to 17.5 afr at 4000, 18 at 4500, and 18.5 at 5000 rpm... now the slight smoke is perfect... which to me shows me that the map is close to proper measurement of fuel.

It's nothing exact, and I haven't really tested the middle and low range, but it drives well with that timing and voltage.
BTW, you should use both maps if you use this pump voltage because it correlates together. Timing does change fueling somewhat from what I've read.

Update/addendum to original pump map:

In colder time like this morning, I had a slight stutter at 2k and realized why....
Using 2k rpm as the reference, The axg pump voltage map uses 981mv at 0.40 iq and 1262 at 2 IQ which is a huge difference. Other maps, including stock alh do not have such a big difference from 0.40 and 2 iq voltages.

If using this map, make sure to set group 01 adaptation to stock 32768 in vcds and hammer to 5 IQ to be properly balanced.

I don't have my TDI anymore but a few people PM'ed me about the maps because the links are dead.
Here I am uploading a zip file with what I have left in my folder.
This is the last map I was using on my TDI with 11mm pump and 234um inector nozzles.

Remember that you need to unlock your ecu to use values past 51mg, which I don't remember how to anymore.

it's not unlocking it just single value Iq limiters
