Bosch DDE - edc15 or 16 ??

Hi

I'm still quite a newbie in the ECU-tuning world so im sorry if this is a stupid question.

My brother has this old bmw 320d we would like to "play" with, but we can not find out what ecu it is.

When you look at the sticker on the side it says - Bosch DDE 7 799 855 02 (See the attached picture).
Is this a EDC15 or a EDC16 ? and how can i see it, if i'm unsure in the future?

Without that i want you to know what hardware you prefer and why. I only have a cheap mpps clone which was plenty when i tuned my own vag EDC15 - i want to buy a frame and some other hardware so i can boot and/or bench ecu's. I have looked at a BDM frame and the fgtech galetto 4. i have also looked at ktag and kess - which one of the three would u prefer?
