Battery Charger/Stabaliser

Postby E-Genie » Fri Apr 05, 2019 11:12 am

As I am looking to start this business as I mean to go on, I am trying to buy only the right equpiment and not cut corners. I have read a lot about battery chargers and stabalizing the voltage etc. but am struggling to find the correct charger at an affordable price.

My first choice was going to be a ROHR 2200W 60A mobile device but was told by the supplier that this isn't suitable as normal chargers like these use pulse charging which can fluctuate.

My research has shown that an ideal ampage as a minimum should be 25A, the charger needs to be a stabilizer variety but so far the only one I could find that is suitable costs around £500!

Please do educate me and point me in the right direction.

Thanks

25Amp is entry level, it must have a amp stabilizer or you will get fluctuations and this is important when writing to the car.
I'd suggest spending the £500 as it's worth every penny especially if you stuff it up because of a power drop during writing.
A voltage stabiliser is also recommended as a constant voltage is needed, recommend 14v.

That's very handy information @Shooting, how does a voltage stabiliser work? any links to the sort of thing I need?

It removes the spikes and drops and produces a constant 14v for programming (Normally 1 or 2 volts either way).
Best get a charger with one built in, a separate one isn't expensive but normally needs a specific charger to run from, and it won't be from the cheap range.
I've seen people with 4amp chargers stuff up a customers cars, it's false economy and worth every penny getting something decent.
You've soo got the right attitude, you'll not go wrong investing correctly at the offset :)

That's great, fills in the holes from the research I have just been doing. It looks like choice is limited but I have found a few options I am looking into including:

ALi Express offering https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2017-ne ... 00947.html

Bosch BAT 55: https://www.boschdiagnostics.com/pro/pr ... ly-charger

Stanley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9lCKXf1WXw

I will let you know what I decide on if no one else has any better ideas.

These seem good, just now you need to count the pennies ;)
