EGR and FAP Switches MAP on EDC15C2

Postby rlees85 » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:51 pm

Just a couple of questions about the EGR and FAP maps.

First off, let me explain that I know the EGR can be turned off by a single switch value. This I know and have already done ;). The purpose of this exercise is purely educational, and to get used to changing parameters in winols.

First question: Please see attached EGR map. If I wanted to 'flatten' (or disable) EGR in the EGR MAP, I guess on the EDC15 we need to bring all the values up to '12000' ? (as it looks like you should NOT flatten down to 0).

Second question: The FAP switches MAP. I can see where it starts, the size (10x9). But I can't seem to make any sense of it. Is this MAP a 8-bit or a 16-bit MAP? A picture of how it should look would be great just so I can compare it to what I have.

Thanks again, very useful forum:)

If you put all map values to 0, ECU will ignore that map completely like it does not exist.

There is lot more EGR maps, not only one. If you would like to turn EGR off that way,
than all those EGR maps have to be edited to 0 values. I prefer switch ;)

There is NO DPF switch map. There are ONLY single value bits in the hex dump that are used to enable or disable the DPF. Also there is a SOI map when the car is in DPF regenerating mode.
When you disable the DPF in the software, you can throw away the clogged filter and use a strait pipe to replace it.

Thanks - the DPF switches is a large section, must be a lot of switches! (but seems after comparing a map before and after ecu safe only a few are needed to disable the FAP).

I found that SOI map, I will probably zero it out for good measure
