Hello everyone!
I am quite new to ecu remapping and after 2 weeks of reading and searching on the internet i decided that I also want to start to reprogam my ECU's.

I think I have a quite good knowledge regarding cars and engines, but now i want to dive deeper in this thematics.

To make it a little bit easyier, I want to start on a Diesel engine, more specific: A Kia Sorento JC 2005 D4CB Engine with 140 bhp stock and an automatic gearbox. Years ago the ECU was professionaly flashed for some money and i was really impressed by the outcome and always wanted to try this on my own.

So my basic idea is:
1) Service the complete engine, gain some knowledge in programming
2) compare the original file (maybe i find some in the Internet) with mine, to find the correct maps, as they are already modified
3) try some changes to get familiar with the changes
4) change components such as turbo and reprogramm.

The car is old and i know that the engine may blow up (although it's probably a quite robust design). I also read a lot and think I have a quite good knowledge and I want to programm on my own. I know that for some money I could let someone make this for me and it would of course be a better result and it would be probably cheaper than buying all the necessary stuff and broken parts, but as I said, i don't want to have a more powerfull engine for as little bucks as possible i want to learn remapping.

So what i have so far:
I think I have a Bosch EDC15C7 ECU
I will use WinOLS for remapping

What I want to know:
Which flasher should I get and which additional stuff do I need? I don't want the cheapest one, and I will not start a company with remapping on the other hand :D I THINK i can remap the ECU by OBD, and for this one I don't need a BDM frame. But on the other hand I have an AUDI TT 8N quattro which I want to remap in the future if i get familiar with the programs and everything. So maybe keeping in mind that I can use it for this purpose to.
I already found some flasher but i have no Idea where to start here to be honest.

Maybe also someone can give me a complete basic guide how everything works, as I read a lot of specific things but I am not sure how all this comes together.
