Golf IV 2003 ASZ 130 HP

Postby Spoegvoer » Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:41 pm

]Hey guy,

I own a 2003 Golf mk IV 130 Hp with an ASZ engine and i was wondering if you guys can rate my map and give me a little advice to make it more fuel economic. I'm currently running a 100 HP map which gives me a 4,5l/100km, compared to 5,1l/100 km with 130HP map and 5,6l/100km with a 165 hp map. I don't care about hp or nm just fuel economy vs durability. I do about 50.000 km a year for work so if you guys want to help out i would very much appreciate it.

I do about 200 km's per day with most of it freeway/highway on cruisecontrol at 110 km/h

The car is runnig with an EDC15P+ ecu

Thanks in advance,

A dutch diesel-enthousiast

i am unsure why you would go less power for fuel ecomomy. when tuned file is done properly you will have more power and better fuel economy when driving normally

Some people can't help themselves, they've got big feet, big feet are heavy.

tuning motor's down for power has been a decades old trick to increasing fuel economy, limit the fuel the driver can request and they'll never exceed it.

Look at UPS down tuning their delivery vehicles, they tuned the GM 6.5 down to 100hp and got outstanding fleet economy :) God forbid they ever tried todo 100kmh on the highway though haha giant 4000kg square lunch boxes with only 100hp dont go very fast

Just like that, and since i live in the netherlands with a ,basicly, completly flattned out it doesnt matter how much HP the car has..as long as it's fuel efficient..if anyone has a 160 HP+ map which does less than 4l/100km, let me know ;)..

Will look up the alh file and see if it benefits my needs

The ALH file is only 90hp stock and is set up around the small VNT15 turbo which may not net you the best fuel efficiency with the slightly larger turbo your car has.

Hey man!

I've tuned quite a few PDs over the years and I've always found the standard maps to be fuel efficient. When remapping I only ever increase the requested IQ for high load cells and recalibrate corresponding fuel tables, boost and limiting tables as necessary. This way you retain factory power/economy for low load cruising. In my experience, I've always found the mechanical condition to be fundamental in good fuel economy. Doing maintenance like removing and cleaning the intake maniold of oil/carbon buildup (then removing EGR from ECU), cleaning intercooler piping of excess oil to improve heat transfer, cleaning injectors, removing restrictions in exhaust to reduce backpressure (be it you don't mind the excessive noise and removing a catalytic converter is legal where you live) and servicing the engine. The factory tuning is designed for economy so ensuring the car is in tip top condition mechanically is number 1 in returning good fuel economy.
