Hex dump problem in WinOLS

Postby Tukas » Wed Feb 20, 2013 10:14 pm

Hey,

I just got my new programmer so I thought I will test it right away. So I've read both eproms from EDC15 ecu(B5 passat 81kW), but when I try to import them to WinOLS it says "When reading the eprom probably an address line was defect. Would you like to cancel the import?".

Here are the files I got:

HHH720(Checksum: 0x9000) - http://speedy.sh/hkJB6/HHH720.BIN
LLL720(Checksum: 0x8200) - http://speedy.sh/Wt2rm/LLL720.BIN

The question would be - are these files correct and should I ignore the warning? If not, does this mean that I've incorectly read the eproms?

Thanks,
Tukas

I think I know where the problem was.

I have re-read the eeproms to check the checksum and everytime it was the same, so I guess the files are correct.
So it seems that the problem was that my WinOLS database is empty as it's the first time I use the program and so I get this error.

Labas :)

I had a look at the first file and it seems very strange, with a lot of repeated lines. I suspect something is indeed wrong with the read you have from the eeprom. Try giving the pins a clean and make sure they are all aligned 100% with the programming socket. I had a very similar problem recently.

you have disable the option on the programmer to check the connectivity on the pins.

what programmer are you using for this job?

I am using Willem PCB50B programmer. Also I have solved the issue for sure now, there is two jumpers which are indicating if I'm using newer or older software, so they were set for the older software but I was using the new version of it. So now I tried to read them again and it seems the hex is correct now and even Winols finds potential maps in it. Thanks for trying to help everyone. I will upload my original files to a proper section after I get home from job.
