VW Golf 1.9 TDI PD 102 hp EDC16U34 ori, mappack and stage 1

Postby btp » Thu Sep 19, 2019 3:25 pm

Hello everyone,

I am newbie for chip tuning. I have been learning for 2 months. I decided to start to learn with ECU's which are Bosch EDC series . I read many topics in this forum. However I have some question about EDC16 and EDC17. Because there are videos about tuning of EDC15 but not 16 and 17. EDC16 and EDC17 are different from EDC15. I am able to find maps in EDC series. I am not sure that is my kp file (mappack) enough for tuning.

My attachment has ori file, mappack and stage 1 project. Of course, tuning file is not good. I did not work with percentage increase. Could anybody look to my file and could you advice me about mappack and the tuned file please?

Sorry for my english.

Just on 2 minutes look.
Mappack is OK, but tuned file not.
DW -Why need 30% intorque increase at 5300rpm???
Smoke limiter-percent tune 19%-why need 19% on almost all maps values???
Boost map, why need 14% increase at 800rpm?????
Boost limiter-why need at 860mBar atm pressure 2300mBar turbo pressure?-will kill your turbo if you drive on high mountains.
Duration- you ask 1deg.CRK but that is not enough, because as you can see for 5mg fuel need around 2,5degCRK.Same for SOI maps
I think you must rework your file, better keep maps values on 5200rpm as stock values. Is just an old Diesel.

Thanks for replying my message. I am trying to learn.

DW -Why need 30% intorque increase at 5300rpm??? IS the other increases in other engine speed values good or enough? Only is there a problem in 5300rpm?

Smoke limiter-percent tune 19%-why need 19% on almost all maps values??? Because SVBL is 2350 mbars and I calculated to Injection Quantity limit of my file. 2350*0,475=1116 mg/stroke. I choice stoic value of new IQ value to 18,0. And new IQ limit 62 mg/stroke. Old IQ limit was 52 mg/stroke and neccessary increase was %19 to reach value 62 mg/stroke.

Boost map, why need 14% increase at 800rpm????? Because of my SVBL that is 2350. I thought it is safe limit for tuning. And I changed all x axis values( IQ 45 to 62)

Boost limiter-why need at 860mBar atm pressure 2300mBar turbo pressure?-will kill your turbo if you drive on high mountains. Torque map y axis starts with 930 mbars so I thought that pressure lost before map sensor is 90 mbar and 860 mbar is not mountain.

You are right about SOI and Duration maps but I have a question about this. SOI limit is 28 Crank angle in SOI Limiter map.

I will rework.

Thank you for your reply. Could you explain more? Which maps did you like?
What is your opinions about:
- New Injection Quantity value (62 mg/stroke) is enough or too much?
- Boost map is enough without incresing?
- How many degree should add to values of SOI and Duration maps?
Thank you in advance.

So shouldn't we learn? What did you mean? It may be difficult today but it is possible in the future. Why not improve ourselves?
Nevertheless, thanks for your comment.
