Hello

Greetings from The Netherlands.
I came across this forum when my car Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI 2006 was said to be in need of a new EGR valve.
The cost to replace it (quote garage) and my willingness to understand the function and importance of the EGR valve led me to google around, ending up here.

For the short term I am looking to delete the EGR-function. I understand it can be done with a blanking plate, after which the ECU has to be reprogrammed? Or is it also possible to only blank it, or only reprogram it? What are the pros/cons/results? As you can see, many (most likely) beginner questions.
Also, I have seen that BDM100 is the way to go for this ECU? I saw on the sticker it is the EDC16C34.

For the longer term I will be interested in remapping the ECU for Stage 1 tuning. As this is not urgent the goal is to write a program from scratch, for which I will need a lot of help from this forum.

The only experience with 'accessing the ECU' is through OBD when I had to program a few keys for my mates Ford. It went well, but seeing the hours I spent learning that I realize I have a long way to go!
Looking forward to the journey!
