EGR off/remove/disable methods overview

Postby cartoone » Thu Nov 21, 2019 11:54 am

Hi,

I am trying to understand the different possibilities of disabling the EGR (function) and when it is best to apply which method.
So far I have seen that you could change hysteresis maps, or 'switch off' the EGR. Are there any other ways?
Also, is there a difference to which method is best if the EGR valve (before blanking) was working fine, unreliable or completely stuck?
Can the connector to the EGR valve remain connected in all situations?
Any other things I am missing out?

If anyone could point me to a topic where this is already being discussed I would appreciate it very much.

To start off with I am only interested in the EDC16C34. (don't know if that matters?)

Hi Mate,

Best will be proper ECU file clean up - logical switches Off, maps flattening, DTC removal - then you able remove hardware if you like.

Hi Pukis,

thanks for the reply.
I have been busy with figuring out the correct way to read the ECU and should have the .bin file now.

Continuing on your post, could you help me with the location of:
1. the logical switches
2. the maps to flatten
3. the error codes (if there are any..?)

Blanking plate has already been fitted in the car.
If I now also can get the ECU cleaned up I will be very happy. :D
You do not have permissions to view the files yet. You have to be registered and you have to make at least 3 quality / unique posts.
