I am Toby, and I recently became a new owner of a pre-loved Rav4 d4-d. I am interested in DIY repair work, and having spent quite a lot of time on my own car fixing mechanical issues, the next step is to figure out how to mess with the ECU :twisted:

I am looking for info on where to even start; there isn't much info online about this vehicle in particular. In fact, I am still trying to figure out a way to get an elm327 obd reader to recognize the ECU due to some custom init configuration that the pre 2004 diesel toyotas use.

Sadly i cannot use the search function in this forum yet (i assume this is some kind of protection against bots?). If anyone here knows some good starting points for messing with the 1cd-ftv denso ECU's, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
