Punto JTD 955_392 maps

Postby vince59 » Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:50 pm

I am new to coding. After some studying and reading my understanding has improved a little bit.
I collected some maps and I have compared them with the original map from the car.
BTW my knowledge is not so good to make a proper evaluation of the different maps.
I noticed most of them have some items changed and some don't.
Changed items for ALL maps are: driver wish1; TQ limit; driver wish 2; duration 1; duration 2.
Other item are changed not the same for all maps.
Changes made are not very clear to me. Some appears very different, others closer to original values.
I have enclosed the modified files and I kindly ask if someone may have some time to spent and help me for better understanding.
After that I will choose the map to test for the car.
Thank you.

Hi!
You .ori file must be 512kB. And in turbo limit map Y-axis is rpm not temperature.
Post proper .ori file.

Hey, you are right I enclosed the wrong file. Please find enclosed the ori file and the tuned file I am using.
I checked the files and they are as you said. Y axe is RPM SIZE IS 512kb.
The file is running good, good torque and prompt gas response.
However I have the red engine warning light ON. It stays on even if I reset whit MES,
I get the error code P601 and it is the internal CHK verification. I checked the files and the CHK is good.

Hi!
Your AFR is too low - between 10 and 13.
Too much duration-45%. :o
TL is too aggressive. So much torque from 1000 rpm.
It will be very smoky i think.

Hey Genadko,
thank for your support. As we must stay home because of covid I will study!!
I am still a newbye so I can undertsand the basic principle and the map is a gift form a friend in Kosovo.
I see what you say but I need to better understand:
- AFR is low (I guess it is too much fuel) and I will try to adjust it...I still do not know and I am not sure if I have to give less fuel or more air;
- too much duration. I believe it refers to the time of fuel injection;
- TL, I kow it is aggressive I can definitely confirm it is. Do you suggest tolower it?
- smoke: not really it is not so smoky unless I push very hard and fast.
Thank you very much.

-AFR is Air to Fuel Ratio - it must be near 17 for diesels. Divide air mass from X-axis(the factor for axis is 0,1 not 1 like in you map pack) of smoke table to desired AFR. Then divide to 0.835(this number converts mg fuel to cubic millimeters. In that ECU fuel is in cubic mm.)
- yes duration is time of fuel injection. For now don't increase it. It is calibration table for injectors.
- TL should have smooth curve.
- the car smokes because you have too much duration. ECU thinks you want for example 60mm^3 and it knows injection time for this amount. If you increase duration ECU injects much more fuel than needed.

Thanks Genadko, I am looking at the map as you suggested and it makes more sense to me now.
I am trying to fix some things and I already:
- closed EGR;
- make driver wish maps same as they were different (now max value is 7000);
- I also increased 25% plus IQ limit;
Next I am trying to fix AFR correction as soon as I fully understand how to calculate it.
I will post the map again.
Thank you for your support

Update:
- increased IQ limit +30%
- reduced duration. Duration was before +44,85 if compared to ori. Now I am testing +30% if compared to original. Is it correct?
- EGR closed.
IO tried to figure your formula but I am not sure I understand.
You said:

I took the smoke maps from ori and mapped but I did not find the way to get the AFR.
Ori map has a maximum value over vertical axe of 7830...the mapped 9396.
So...7830/14.7 (ideal AFR) = 532,65/0.835 = 637,90 (do not take care about the coma) does this mean 63,xx mm3 gas to have 14,7 AFR?
I am trying to understand...but do not know.

Hi!
Yes you are on the right way.
You Smoke Limit map is at address 75FB8. X-axis is air in mg/str and Y-axis is rpm. Values in the table are fuel(diesel) for appropriate air mass and rpm. So lets get for example 1000 column (look at picture). This means 1000 mg air per stroke. Divide it to 17 (desired AFR). Result will be 58.8 but in mg/str. So to convert in mm^3 (EDC15 works in mm^3) we need divide this value to 0.835(which is amount of diesel in one mm^3). And final result will be 70.44 mm^3. This value we must put in table.

Ideal AFR 14.7 is for gasoline engines. For diesels is about 17.5-17 minimum for smokeless.
