Logging with A2L files

Postby Endorfin » Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:21 am

Hi
Is it possible to log using A2L files in some of the available tuning applications
You do not have permissions to view the files yet. You have to be registered and you have to make at least 3 quality / unique posts.

I think this picture is from CANoe from Vector. It can make logs if you have the correct dbc file and hardware for it. Mostly OEM (supplier) application.
For a2l logging you also need specific hardware and software (CANape from Vector), but the ecu should send the signals in a specific protocol for development (e.g ccp, xcp). As I know these protocols cannot be used anymore after the ecu is in serial production.
Correct me if I am wrong.

I have used CANalyzer Vector for logging with *.dbc files on vehicles in test and as you say it is before they go out in production.
So it is only unreleased test softwares I have used it for...
I have never used it on released software that is actually one of the questions...
What are the *.a2l files designed for ?
Why are they compiled ...
Is it possible to convert them and use them..
But I now you can with the right type of tool convert a2l files for test so they become loggable.

But Vector software and Hardware components are REALLY expensive and also come with a high monthly fee !

I am looking for an alternative software that could handle logging and parameter setting if possible on released software.
