I made some confusion with threads and collected informations so I need to start from the scratches.
Willing to tune a Grande Punto MJT 1.3 but I do not have the car available right now.
ECU is marked as MJD 8F2.G1 - 51904061 but I did not read because above mentioned reason.
Now my understanding is that this ECU is not as easy as EDC15C7 I did so I want to be sure not to break it at first attempt.
Now my questions related to:
software:
- the information I have are enough to search the ori file and start studying or it is necessary to actually connect and read the ECU so to get additional informatin?
- are there different kind of software version for this ECU?
- I downloaded the enclosed file (flash) and I am using Titanium to sudy it but when I go to Grande punto I have several choices but do not know which one to choose;
- same situation with winOLS. I opened the file but I am not yet experienced to find the maps; I could not find mappacks.
hardware:
- unfortunately I only have cinese stuff and I do not want to use them. I am looking for some tool that would fit. It seems Kess is the good one but there are too many version ranging in price and do not kow which one would do the job;
- I see suggested option is sometimes to use JTAG or BDM. I am not sure about how to work on this ECU but I would prefer NOT to open but working with OBD.
- I like to work on a spare ECU and I will buy another one. I guess it will not work if connected ot my car because immo or stuff like this. SO question is...do I need to "clone" this ECU in any way? Does the ECU have an eeprom to desodler and flash or what?

Hi, thanks for your reply, but as said I am starting from the scratches and I do not have access to the car right now. I am asking suggestions to start working on it.
I did not read yet the ECU and the only file I could find in the web was tha one I enclosed to first post, but I wonder if I should check software version as well. The ECU is this.

no, winOLS is not original. it is the very common 2.24.
Just a question...what is the limitation of winOLS test version against full?
