PSA 2.0 HDI 163 DCM 3.5 Inverted Map of Fuel Flow Question

Postby windy1603 » Mon Jun 08, 2020 2:08 pm

I have identified most of the relevant maps for my 2.0 HDI 163 using the 407 Damos as a reference. i am confused about the 6 mapped listed as Inverted map of fuel mass flow. The x-axis is RPM, Y Axis mg/str and Z is Nm.

Am I right in assuming this is used as a torque to IQ lookup table. If so would the remap file i have accually reduce IQ as the torque figure has been increased on the mapped file or am i looking at in the wrong way.

Yes, I would assume(not 100% sure duh! ) increasing the nm figure i.e with 68mg/str @ 3250rpm@372nm to 416nm would lower the actual nm produced where as if changed to 68 mg/str@350nm@3250rpm would have it injecting 68mg/str to produce the requested 350nm when in fact it actually is producing 372nm??

But isn’t the injection limited to 68mg/str anyway @1886DE ‘Main fuel demand max value’ According to damos? -So no matter what you may want it will not inject more than 68mg/str for approx. 372nm?

Better to just try increase 1886DE to 79mg/str(Duration map max 80mg/str) which in theory will give you the 417nm@3250rpm when requested in your max nm map. also damos lists it as 1mg/str to 5.5nm? so 68mg/str approx 374nm@3250rpm?

What max boost do you run- I set mine to max 2610 mbar@3250rpm to about 2490mbar @4000rpm for the 4 main maps which gives about 162g/s maf @4000-4250rpm or about 1150mg/str(damn dpf)

But I found by ’cheating’(blasphemy :shh: ) the injection duration up by 9-10%@68mg/str giving around 74mg/str @3250rpm for 410nm rather than changing the nm to iq map, but try changing 1886DE to 79mg/str, unless you have already?

Thanks for the info I will have a look in more detail -

On mine std max boost at 3250 is 2.54 dropping to 2.44 at 4250 on the standard map and the file have has that upped to 2.78 dropping to 2.62. Calibration/Injection maps appear standard

Just checked the Main fuel demand max value in the mapped file and it been changed to 99 I assume to use the whole of the fuel map

that is quite high boost, ok for brief times maybe.I had set it to 2750mbar before to experiment but found when logging a 3rd gear pull for example the boost could only sustain at around 2620mbar max anyway and about 2500@4000rpm so requesting more made no difference.Only on overboost for a few seconds it pulls around 2800mbar maybe.

strange why it was set to 99mg/str as injectors only go to 80mg/str but makes sure to use the full 80mg i suppose, i have run 78 mg/str many times for fun and certainly gives a strong pull at 4250rpm but DPF soots too quickly

if you can pull a high MAF g/s at 4250rpm say 170g/s you could burn more fuel cleanly but mine averages around 158-162g/s so limits the fuel i can burn cleanly so i limit it at 380nm@4000rpm--you still have the DPF?

Still looking at the original and mapped and logging changes.

Came across a changed map in the file and cross ref against DAMOS is a little vague listed as Ton Target Value (0x2EDE3C in your file).

It appears to be a target value for max injection duration RPM/Rail Pressure. Increasing the time at higher rail/rpm values the higher than 68mg+ IQ requests are more achievable with out tweaking duration maps. I need a good run to fully log and cross ref values.

interesting have not come across any modified dcm 3.5 maps showing changes to that before? -not really sure how the 'Time on' target map relates or works? But i think the 'Ton' it is converted from the 'angle on' degree relative to TDC --Ton indicating when injection starts and Toff injection stops? .--added to the minimum drive pulse?
but the 'Ton' target map figures changed were they increased or decreased on the modified map? so very curious to see your results!!

In the tuned file from 550 bar upwards the figures have been increased by between 240% tailing off to 80% at 2000 bar

And a new Max IQ by RPM map at 0x2EDD0C not in your map list

yes i just noticed that one too near the Ton target map called Maximal l1_qt value next to max post and pilot qt values interesting as between 2000-3500rpm it's limited might try to even it out and log? as 240% on Ton target whew!!
