EDC17(CP14) How to remove TPROT?

Postby mttlr » Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:58 pm

Hello guys,

I wanted to ask if anybody could explain to me how to disable TPROT on my EDC17CP14 properly.

I've been searching on different forums and pages like everywhere on the internet, but still I'm not able to find a real answer to my question.
I already know that i have to read my ECU by Bootmode first, because it's not possible with the OBD read only.

So i have to:
- remove the ECU from the car
- open it up
- read it via Boot Pin
- ???
- ???
- ???
- load the TPROT off file back again by boot pin
- place the ECU back in the car
- now i should be able to read/write it by OBD via Kess, etc.

So here is my question: How do I disable TPROT on my read boot file? Or are these steps, which i mentioned totally wrong?

I'm desperate about this and I'd appreciate any help!

Have a nice day,

mttlr :)

Hi
I have the same situation can you please share how you remove the tprot? The original ecu that im workin in is in tprot and i want to write its file to a non tprot ecu. They are both EDC17CP14. Is there a way i can write it?

Thanks

I've also got EDC17 ECU in my vw mk6. But I don't really know whether protection exists there. Actually, I'm not sure :( As far as I know every EDC17 which is made after 2009 has got tuning protection. How to check it? Which software do we use to remove TPROT? HEX editor or something else?

As far as I know WinOLS and ECU Titanium are only used for map editing. These software can't remove TPROT. Am I right? To remove TPROT you can use HEX EDITOR.

winols is hex editor, it can be used in so much more things than only map editing, its nothing like ecm crap, have you used winols? if you know what youre doing you can remove it with notepad :D

Yes, I've used WinOLS a few times because I'm still learning about it. I know that WinOLS can recognize much more maps than ECM Titanium but these maps aren't named. It is posible to read TPROT maps from ECU but not possible to edit without removing TPROT???

Youre confusing tprot with a noread. Its 2 completely different unrelated things
