Hi, calculate stock EOI and keep EOI close to stock when you make a remap.
That will be more than good for your case.

If you have ECU with duration in degrees than it is very simple to calculate EOI,
if you have in microseconds than you have to calculate over rail pressure map and duration map and soi map...

There is very nice thread from ALEX, he made a program for calculating EOI, you may find it useful for you:
eoi-builder-t1441?hilit=affect%20on%20soi

cheers

Thanks again. Is there a thank you button on this forum, because you deserve millions :)

I've learnt so much in only a few weeks on this site and my knowledge keeps growing.

I'm pretty sure this passat with EDC15P+ ecu is in degrees so i simple add the degrees of duration to the SOI maps to get the EOI?

Also I will need to consult the duration map selector will I not, but how does this decide what duration map to select? I mean I have only 6 duration maps but 10 SOI maps and the selector for duration is as follows:

SOI Duration map
27 00
21 01
15 02
9 03
4 04
0 05

Does this mean then when the crackshaft is say 27 degrees advanced you use duration map 00, but what if the degrees are 24? What duration map would you use then 00 or 01?

Thanks again.

Hi,
look in 16bit decimal.

Your duration maps are in degrees: 16bit LOHI.
SOI maps in degrees: 16bit LOHI

If duration is 30degrees and SOI is 20degrees BTDC than EOI is 10 ATDC (20-30= -10).
-10 means after top dead ceter so 10 ATDC...

Sorry for not been clear I can view all the maps I need but I think I didnt explain properly.

I mean how does the duration selector map come into play? In the duration map selector i posted in previous post how would you know which SOI map uses which duration? Or are the duration maps dependant on temperature too. Or is it as simple as the duration selector map says for 27 degrees SOI use duration map 00, but what about when you have inbetween numbers for instance 25.5 degrees SOI. Which duration map would I use 00 or 01 since the only SOI to select is 27 or 24.

Does this make sense because this is very hard to write down in words, or at least for me that is.

Hi,
you have to find Injection duration switch map and also SOI switch fuel temp map...
when you locate those maps, everything will clear out instantly and you will remember it for all times. ;)

So let me get this right if SOI is 27 degrees you would use duration map 00, and 24 degress SOI is duration map 01 but you want to modify an SOI value of 25.5 degress BTDC which duration map would you use 01?

Hi

Are there any limits on EDC15 SOI map values?

Thanks

I have no idea on the max as i'm no pro but doing a lot of reading i've seen people mentioning not to go above 27 degrees BTDC. On a PD engine it may be worth getting bigger injectors perhaps the PD150 ARL ones so that the duration is less and therefore lower start of injection. This will give the same amount of fuel or more depending on how you've set it up for less duration, meaning lower EGT's and increase in overall power and torque.

This is what i've been led to believe but kinda makes sense.
