ive recently started rebuilding a seriously neglected Audi A4 b6 1.9TDI AVF. This has been a new adventure for me, i dont have a mechanical background or any technical experience in the automotive industry. However im technically minded and with the abundance of manuals and wiring diagrams available for the car ive managed to get her coming together beautifully. Its been months of frustration, tears,sore hands and an angry girlfriend im confident there isnt anything about the B6 i dont know, now its time to learn about the ecu, tuning and how to make her a fun toy to play with.
the car has the 1.9tdi AVF pd injectors, still stock internals i just did the head cylinder gasket and scrubbed and cleaned every pipe,hose,nook and cranny, if i could open it , I opened it, cleaned it and so on.
Shes got the Bosch edc15 + ECU

i want top start simple
first thing first,i only have a cheap generic OBD cable that came with some galleto rip off
will this cable be ok for now?
any free open source software i can use before i dive in and spend money i dont have and buy a decent suite from ross technor something .
learn how the ECU works
try something like delete the egr
play with fueling and boost to learn how they work with the ecu
learn how to set a rev limiter with fueling for the pops and bangs
in general i want to know anything there is to know about this car
