Peugeot 307 HDI 2.0 EGR

Postby 23aero » Mon Apr 22, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, but not to tuning ECU's, although I've only done petrol before.

I plan on switching off EGR on my wife's Peugeot 307 and have read a fair bit on here, but am unclear on some aspects which I hope someone can clear up for me.

I have recently got winols (full version) and have a Galletto 1260 and associated software, is there anything else I need from a hardware software perspective ? Also, are their any written guidelines for doing the edits and what to edit ? I can't read attachments yet due to being new here.

Also, does the EGR valve have to be disconnected physically once it's switched off in the ECU ?

Regards,
Andy

Also, what are the benefits of switching off EGR from a driveability point of view ?

Andy

Anyone got any views, particularly like to know if the wiring to the EGR needs to be disconnected ?

Cheers,
Andy

P307 to be done and software changes. egr be disabled. if it just shut mechanically controller would you like to throw an error. and the car would go into safe mode. Therefore, it is necessary soft hit.

Hi

Which ECU is it on the 307??

If its Bosch EDC15C2 you should be ok to leave the EGR EV valve connected after disabling EGR in the ECU, although it is highly recommended you disconnect it.

I have ran it both with it connected and disconnected (I mean the electrical connector for the EV valve, not the EGR valve itself - this was removed in the beginning) and noticed no difference what so ever.

Now as for the EGR valve itself and the exhaust pipework, again its highly recommended to remove all this and use 2 blanking plates (1 on inlet and another on outlet) made out of a decent thickness (5mm+) of steel/stainless steel. Although, if you leave all of this in place, the EGR valve *should* stay fully closed, blocking any exhaust gasses going into the inlet anyway.

As for driveability, you probably will notice no improvement unless your EGR system is faulty in the first place. It will stop the EGR system from dumping loads of crap in your inlet however preventing problems in the future.

Hope this helps in some way. If you have an EDC15C2 ECU there is a guide on here how to disable the EGR in the software.

Hi, Thanks for the replies.

I currently have an intermittent issue with the car where it seems to hesitate occassionally when on light loads, it feels a like, even though the throttle is being held steady, that it is being moved up and down slightly. This clears itself and it'll be fine for days, or weeks sometimes. It also has an intermittent fault when I look in PP2000 associated with the EGR system, so I thought I would disable it and see if it clears the problem.

It is and EDC15C ecu and I have read the guides, but they don't seem to answer all my questions. I'm also not familiar with winOLS, but I'm reading through all the guides before I attempt anything. I have managed to turn the EGR switches at 6111F and 7111F to 000, so the EGR should be off, so now I'm looking at checksums, and then I've got to flash it back to the ECU, then disconnect the EGR solenoid valve, from what has been said.

I was going to leave the EGR and pipework in place for now, probably remove it later on.

Thanks again.

Regards,
Andy

Once you set the switch off in software there's no need to unplug or remove anything. You can leave all in place. EGR will be closed and not give anymore errors.

Thanks everyone, I've successfully turned EGR off. Duty cycle in PP2000 is 0%, so I'd say that's done.

Next job is to try and get some more power by tuning.... I've got a lot of learning to do.

Hi Andy

I have the exact same problem with unstable engine power on light loads.

Can you tell me if turning off the EGR fixed the problem for you?

best regards

Did someone experience flashing this car and ecu with MPPS?
