Best method for Removing rubber seal on ECU

HI just new at this game , I would like some advise how to remove rubber adhesive from VAG ecu without damaging unit.
I am finding it difficult to open unit without bending and distorting body.
Any advise would be appreciated.

The Best way in my opinion it's to use heat, from rework station and little by little try to pull the lid carefully.

Please take really good care when heat and pul the lid up, to not damage any part of PCB.

I cannot be responsible for any damage on the ECU.

Place ecu in kitchen oven and set temperature 80-90 degree. This is safe, under hood ecu work at this temperature. Hot ecu will open easy.

Just warm it up and take your time, use a thin flat screw driver and a razor blade

whats the best way of opnening the f series bmw edc17 cp 42/50 or whatever has the info on the back side with the delicate board...as in "flip". And no i am not prepared to go drilling holes in the housuing...

Just heat..amd patience...and 2k€ in the bank account if something goes wrong? ;)

Screwdriver, heat, sharp blade and a Snap On gasket scraper like this:

The big surface area gives good leverage on the ECU lid and doesn't tear at the metal with the force being spread over a wider area.

I've never not been able to open an ECU with those so far, but I know some of the new VAG stuff like EDC17 CP54 have crimps on them that have to be drilled out. I use a drill and jig from Magic Motorsport to do the C41 etc BMW ECUs. I know they need to have the board flipped for the F shape though with more pins needing to be connected.

It's always good to have the money in the bank account! I know of people that really recommend warming the ECU through on a radiator, taking off the top side, and pouring brake cleaner into the ECU. This eats away and softens the paste that holds the board on after about 30 minutes and they should then come out pretty easily.
