Understanding driver wish map and NM vs IQ

Postby Zaccyboy » Tue Sep 16, 2014 5:34 pm

I have a Citroen xsara Picasso 1.6hdi 92hp with Bosch ecu16C34.

I am trying to understand the driver wish map and the NM vs IQ maps.

For example at 100 throttle@2000 revs it requires 328 NM.

I look at the NM vs IQ map and find that 300 = 53?

Does this mean that 300NM = 53mg of fuel?

If so my fuelling table only goes up to 40mg fuel in the boost tables so?????

Anyone help on this.

I will post a proper example later on.

Cheers

NM vs IQ DRIVERWISH.rar

Here is the attachment with an actual screen shot.

Anyone explain how it works?

Thanks

it requests 53, it doesnt necessarily get 53 injected. (depending on limiters)
and for a 92 bph, the max stock torque is approx. 220/240Nm?

Like scoppack said, drivers wish map request a value, although there are other maps which limit that value... you need to find torque limiter maps and check the lowest value.

Another important note is that torque requested is internal torque, you have to calculate the loss when you refer to torque @ wheel...

Thanks for you replies but doesn't the torque relate to engine torque rather than real torque ie ft/lbs?

I you look at the screen shot on driver wish at 2000 revs and 100% throttle it calls for 293??

What is 293? is this torque in NM or 29.3 mg fuel?

Also on the NM vs IQ again at 2000 300 = 55???? what does this mean ? 300NM = 55mg/ stroke of fuel??

Don't understand it to be honest?

Hi,

Drivers wish map in EDC16 is torque based, so yes 293 is torque in Nm.

Nm to IQ is torque conversion map, it contains injection values needed to produce x torque in Nm @ y rpm, unit is mm3/cycle.

From the DW, the pedal REQUESTS an amount of torque(Nm)
From there, depending on your RPM, it converts the torque amount you requested, to an amount of fuel required to achieve the power.
Then, depending on the lambda (smoke map), which looks up air pressure against RMP, it may limit it some more.

Most maps are fuelled up to approx. 40mm3, as the limiters will cut back the requests.
Hence the easyish stage 1 remap, which increases the limits and requests.
I still don't know how my map rates, but it certainly drives better than stock.

Base your remap below the 300Nm/55IQ, as your clutch will give out well before that if you drive hard.
Look at what companys offer as a baseline to achieve, it should be from 90bhp/161lb(218Nm), to 115bhp/192lb(260Nm)
At least this way, you know a safe limit, otherwise they shouldn't be selling it.

All of this information is available in certain guides.

Hi scopack do you have an example of modifying the driverwish as I have looked at the maps and still getting confused with the nm numbers against rpm? If the engine is only to produce 220nm max then why are there numbers iny screen shot over 300? Also looking at the drivers wish map in 3d the graph starts off high and slopes down? Should it slope upwards then? Any help greatly appreciated.
